Which frames suit which face?

The usual advice is to choose a frame that contrasts with the outline of your face. These are starting points, not rules: if you love a frame, wear it.

• Oval

  Balanced proportions, so most shapes work. A frame about as wide as your face keeps them that way.

• Round

  Soft curves, about as wide as it is long. Angular frames add some definition.

  A strong jaw and a broad forehead. Curved frames soften the lines.

• Heart

  Wider at the forehead, narrower at the chin. Light frames, or ones wider at the bottom, balance it out.

• Diamond

  Wide cheekbones, with a narrower forehead and chin. Curved or upswept frames draw attention to the eyes.

• Triangle

  Narrower at the forehead, wider at the jaw. Frames with more going on at the top add width above the eyes.
